The David Sloan Scholarship Fund

A teacher, mentor, colleague, founder, and friend, David devoted much of his life to Waldorf education and to the young people entrusted to his care.

David Sloan, “Mr. Sloan,” as so many students knew him, held a deep and enduring connection to Maine Coast Waldorf School. David played a foundational role in bringing our High School to life, beginning in 2006 when he helped establish what was then Merriconeag Waldorf High School. David taught middle and high school humanities, directed numerous play productions, and brought warmth, wisdom, dynamism, and deep conviction to his work with students, leaving an impression that extended far beyond the classroom.

In his memory, the Sloan family has established the David Sloan Scholarship Fund to help make a Maine Coast Waldorf High School education accessible to students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.

The details of the scholarship are being developed in partnership with David’s family and we will soon share more here about the fund and the ways it will carry forward David’s lifelong commitment to young people and Waldorf education.

For those who wish to honor David, gifts of any size may be made to the David Sloan Scholarship Fund.

To make a gift by check, stock, donor-advised fund, or another method, or with questions about the fund, please contact Molly Clark, Director of Development and Community Engagement, at mclark@mainecoastwaldorf.org.
