Summer Camps

Nature Nurtures Early Childhood Camp

We are pleased to offer three weeks of joyful outdoor play in the beautiful fields, gardens, and forests on our rural Freeport campus. Campers will enjoy fort and fairy-house building, woods walks and nature-inspired crafts and stories, picnics and shady rests. Our camps are run under the caring supervision of an experienced Maine Coast Waldorf School educator.

Janet Rae Jorgensen is looking forward to summer time fun with your children! Janet Rae (JR) has been working professionally with children for over 20 years. For three summers, she owned and operated an outdoor nature camp, Twigs, for young children throughout the open spaces in Marin County in Northern California and was the director of KukuRiku, a farm camp in Petaluma, California for one glorious summer. She has taught children in gardens, forests, and mountains; led professional development for teachers at various schools; and was adjunct faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College teaching child development prior to moving to Maine. Janet Rae is currently the office manager for Maine Coast Waldorf’s early childhood program. Janet Rae earned her undergraduate degree in Theatre from Ohio University, and her graduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Mills College in Oakland, California. Janet Rae is enthusiastic about this opportunity to play in the Maine woods this July.
