Grades 6 - 8 Submissions
Thank you for sharing your work for the Second Annual Inkblot Writing Contest, sponsored by Maine Coast Waldorf School. The Inkblot Writing Contest is open to all Maine students in Grades 4 through 12 in the 2024-2025 school year. Prizes will be awarded to winners and runners-up in each age category for Fiction and Poetry.
Submission Requirements: Entries will be accepted between October 1 and October 15, 2024. Entries are free. Submissions may not have been previously published online or in print. Entries will be read blind. The identifying information you submit on this form will not be passed along to the judges (click here to meet the judges!).
Students may submit one short story up to 3,500 words, or up to three poems (of no more than 10 total pages). You may submit in both short story and poetry categories, but you may only enter each category once. Teachers may submit work on behalf of students.
Ideally, submissions are typed, but a legibly handwritten scan is also acceptable. PDF is the preferred file type to retain your desired formatting.
Awards Reception: On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 6pm, we will hold a reception to celebrate all participants, and officially recognize the winners and runners-up. The reception will be held at Maine Coast Waldorf School in the high school building. The address is 57 Desert Road, Freeport, ME, 04032.
