Music

At Maine Coast Waldorf School, music is a daily practice and a shared language.
Music grounds our mornings, shapes our community, and invites students to discover their voice—whether through harmony, improvisation, or joyful experimentation. Music at Maine Coast Waldorf School is woven into daily life, from morning classes to performances in assemblies, festivals, and our café stage. Whether students arrive as trained musicians or curious beginners, they find a place in our music community, where music is not just something we listen to, but something we create, together.
Ensembles
Students select from one of three instrumental ensembles, Orchestra, Improv and Bluegrass. Each ensemble is designed to meet a variety of experience levels and interests.

Music That Connects Across Time
In History Through Music, students explore how sound reflects culture, ideas, and creativity across time. This interdisciplinary course deepens historical understanding, nurtures curiosity, and encourages thoughtful engagement through both analysis and artistic expression.
Informal performances are woven throughout the course, transforming research and reflection into lived experience while sharing learning with the wider community.

Take the Mic, Make the Moment

Our coffeehouse stage brings together the voices and talents of our vibrant community. Students, parents and caregivers, faculty, alum and their families share music, poetry and creative acts, offering inspiration and connection that echo long after the final snaps.
For high school students, coffeehouses are lively evenings to sharpen performance skills, strengthen relationships with peers, and take creative risks in a joyful and supportive setting.
