Foreign Exchange & International Enrollment for High School

Located in Freeport, Maine, in the northeastern United States, Maine Coast Waldorf High School welcomes international students for cultural exchange and immersive learning in a supportive, caring community.

Foreign Exchange

International students are paired with a Maine Coast Waldorf High School student for a reciprocal exchange. Each student takes a turn visiting their partner’s country, living and learning together for up to three months. The exchange partner serves as a key connection point, helping their guest settle into daily life and the community. Families provide housing and support for their visiting student.

Maine Coast Waldorf High School welcomes international students for periods ranging from three months to a full academic year (September–June). We thoughtfully pair each student with a trusted host family from within our community. Host families provide housing, transportation, meals, and daily support, helping students feel at home and connected to the community.

Where We Are: Freeport, Maine, United States

Northeastern United States Location with Easy Access to Boston & International Travel Routes

Located on a 75-acre campus in Freeport, Maine, our school offers a peaceful coastal setting in New England with easy access to major cities and international travel routes. Freeport is a welcoming community with convenient amenities, located about two hours north of Boston and six hours north of New York City.

International Travel Access

Our school is within a two hour drive of Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), a major international hub with direct flights to Europe, Asia, and South America, making international travel convenient.

Nearby City: Portland, Maine

Portland, Maine is only 20 minutes from campus and provides an urban experience with arts, dining, and shopping in a maritime city of 68,000. Portland is also home to a smaller regional airport, Portland International Jetport (PWM), offering added convenience.

Foreign Exchange Program

International students are paired with a Maine Coast Waldorf High School student for a reciprocal exchange. Each student takes a turn traveling to their partner’s country, living and learning together for up to three months.

An exchange partner becomes a welcoming guide and steady presence, helping their guest settle into school life, get connected socially, explore the community, and make the most of their time abroad.
