We are committed to making our whole-child approach to education accessible to families of diverse financial circumstances. Each year, Maine Coast Waldorf School provides nearly $2 million in support, reaching over half of our students.

Tuition & Affordability

Families who wish to apply for tuition adjustment must complete an enrollment application for each candidate as well as a household application for our tuition adjustment program.

Enrollment applications are submitted through your Admissions Portal in Veracross, and tuition adjustment applications are submitted through Clarity.

Student Visit

Beginning in early March, we invite families moving forward in the admissions process to schedule a student visit.

Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten: Candidates who advance in the admissions process will be invited to attend a playgroup with an Early Childhood teacher in early spring.

Grade 1: Candidates who advance in the admissions process will be invited to complete a First Grade Readiness Assessment with our Director of Education Support.

Grades 2 & Above: Candidates who advance in the admissions process will be invited for a multi-day student visit. This is a meaningful opportunity for students to experience daily life on campus, meet teachers and peers, and participate in classes as they get to know our school community.

Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten

Eligibility

Pre-kindergarten students must be 3 years old by September 1st, and be fully toilet-trained.

Application Checklist

Visit Campus – Parents and caregivers attend an Open House or request a summer tour.

Enrollment Application - Submit an enrollment application for each candidate through the Admissions Portal.

Teacher Recommendation – For candidates who have previously been in care, submit a confidential Teacher Recommendation request through the Admissions Portal.

Student Visit & Playgroup – If a candidate advances in the process, the Admissions Office will schedule a visit with one of our Early Childhood teachers in a small group environment.

Tuition Adjustment Application – Tuition adjustment is available for qualifying students enrolled five full days per week in pre-kindergarten through high school.

Maine Coast Waldorf High School enrolls international students for periods ranging from three months to a full academic year (September – June).

International students are thoughtfully matched with a host family from our school community. Host families provide daily logistical support as well as care and connection as students settle into school life and the local community.

This school creates a unique environment that encourages students to push the established boundaries, growing their confidence and challenging them to explore what possibilities life offers. Choosing Maine Coast Waldorf School has had the largest, most positive impact on my life thus far.

First Nations Reconciliation Program

Our First Nations Reconciliation Program offers a tuition-free Waldorf education, inclusive of any and all fees related to enrollment or school-sponsored offerings. This initiative applies to students from the territories now known as the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and welcomes those affiliated with the many sovereign tribal nations across this continent.

Maine Coast Waldorf School intends to see these students through their graduation from our high school, so long as it is recognized that our school remains a good fit for a given student.

How old does my child have to be to enroll at Maine Coast Waldorf School?

Pre-Kindergarten: Children must be 3 years old by September 1st. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten

Grade 1: Children must turn 6 years old before May 31st of the year they enter first grade. This ensures that students will be 7 years old or turning 7 in first grade. Grades 1–8

Enrollment eligibility and entry grade are informed by both age and a child’s individual readiness for school life. We consider physical development, including the maturing of the sensory system, as well as emotional and social growth. Our goal is always for the transition into school to feel steady and supportive, and for learning to be developmentally-appropriate and joyfully engaging for each student.

When should we begin the application process?

Our enrollment application for the 2027–2028 school year opens on September 1, 2026. Submit an inquiry now, and we’ll notify you when the application becomes available.

The priority enrollment application deadline for the 2026–2027 school year is February 1, 2027. Applications received beyond this date will be reviewed with rolling admission.

Do enrolled middle school students need to reapply for Maine Coast Waldorf High School?

No, students advance into our high school without reapplying, supported through the transition.

Throughout middle school, students and families have frequent opportunities to meet high school faculty and attend high school events, performances, and presentations. Grade 8 students are also invited to attend a full day at Maine Coast Waldorf High School, participating in academic classes and experiencing our welcoming and robust student life.

Yes, Maine Coast Waldorf School offers a tuition adjustment program and flexible payment options. Tuition adjustments are available for qualifying full-time students from early childhood through high school.

Families seeking tuition adjustment must submit an enrollment application for each candidate and a tuition adjustment application for the household. Each application is reviewed thoughtfully, considering your family’s full financial picture, including unique circumstances or obligations. We do not use strict income thresholds when determining eligibility.

Tuition adjustment packages include an automatic and corresponding adjustment to lunch fees for families opting into our café lunch program.

For added convenience, Maine Coast Waldorf School offers aftercare for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 5, with programming available until 5 pm.
