Maine Coast Waldorf School weaves experiential learning, arts, science, theater, mathematics, music, humanities, and movement throughout the curriculum and daily lives of our students, from early childhood through high school.

More than a beautiful setting, our 75-acre campus is a living classroom. Expansive fields, woods, gardens, and trails immerse our students in place-based learning and strengthen their connections to the environment.

Consider our Tuition Adjustment Program

If tuition might be a barrier for your family, we warmly encourage you to apply for tuition adjustment.

We’re committed to making our whole-child approach to education accessible to families of all financial circumstances. Each year, Maine Coast Waldorf School provides $1 million in tuition adjustments, reaching 45% of enrolled families.

The tuition adjustment application is separate from the enrollment application. Financial capacity does not influence admissions decisions. Priority applications for tuition adjustment for 2026–2027 close February 6, 2026.

A Landscape for Learning

Here, the environment is not just a backdrop, but an essential part of the learning experience. Our location provides access to Maine’s breathtaking landscapes—from the rugged coastline and beaches, to nature preserves and state parks.

Athletics

Our athletic program features cross country running, Nordic skiing, and ultimate frisbee, with over half of our students participating throughout their middle and high school years.

Our Athletic Director collaborates closely with neighboring towns to coordinate participation in golf, track and field, rowing, basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, and other external programs.

Enrichment Opportunities

In addition to our rich academic curriculum, Maine Coast Waldorf School offers a wide range of in-school and after-school activities. Our many extracurricular activities include Model United Nations (UN), the statewide One Act Drama Festival, the Maine State Science Fair, a thriving music program, Senior Internships, and more.

Our High School is committed to meaningful community engagement. Each student participates in service-based learning throughout the year. These experiences invite students to reflect on their role in the world and what it means to participate with care, awareness, and responsibility.

Transportation

Our Café

More than a place to eat, our Community Hall café is a daily gathering spot for students, parents, and visitors alike. It’s also home to our Grades 1–12 lunch program, led by an award-winning chef who prepares nourishing meals with locally sourced ingredients—many grown or raised by families in our school community. The menu includes vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free options.

The café regularly transforms into a stage for student-led performances, poetry readings, and musical showcases.

Beyond the Classroom

Off-campus excursions, beginning in third grade, empower students to engage with the curriculum in new and impactful ways. We take full advantage of our unique location—nestled between Maine’s mountains and coastline, and within reach of cultural hubs like Boston, Montreal, and Québec City. Students develop confidence and deepen relationships with peers during regional trips, retreats, and outdoor adventures.

International Exchange

Nearly two-thirds of our high school students spend part of their sophomore or junior year abroad. Students cultivate their resilience and independence through a cultural immersion while elevating their French or German fluency. Through partnerships with Waldorf schools across Europe, our shared curriculum fosters a smooth academic transition. Because participating families agree to host one another, costs remain low, typically just the cost of travel.
