Summer Camps

Summer camp at Maine Coast Waldorf School takes advantage of our incredible setting in rural Freeport, Maine. In 2020 we are offering exciting circus arts for ages 8 - 12 or a joyful outdoor camp for children ages 3 - 6 (not yet in first grade). Nature Nurtures Early Childhood Camp (ages 3-6) 1-3 week options

  • Week 1:   June 15-19 (FULL)
  • Week 2:  June 22 - 26
  • Week 3:  June 29 - July 3

The camp runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-1:00 pm.

Cost: $230 per week or $625 if you preregister and prepay for all three weeks.

We are pleased to offer three weeks of joyful outdoor play in the beautiful fields, gardens, and forests on our rural Freeport campus. Campers will enjoy fort and fairy-house building, woods walks and water play, crafts and stories, picnics and shady rests. A wholesome snack is provided each day. Our camps are run under the caring supervision of an experienced Maine Coast Waldorf School assistant.

Jennifer McLeod-Marenghi is currently MCWS's grades and high school chorus teacher. Prior to that she served as an assistant in our Early Childhood afternoon program during the school year and as an assistant in our morning nursery program for four years. This is her sixth summer  enjoying nature with our Early Childhood campers.  Along from her teaching experience at Maine Coast Waldorf and formerly on Peaks Island, Jennifer has helped local organizations, such as PORTopera and Portland Symphony Orchestra, with their educational outreach.

Circus Camp (ages 8-12)

  • One week only! June 15 - 199:00 am - 12:00 noon
  • Open to ages 8 - 12
  • Cost: $225
  • Camp will be held in the Community Hall at MCWS.

Come experience the circus arts of clowning, juggling, tightrope walking, mime and more! 

Our exciting 2020 Circus Camp will be led by Maine Coast Waldorf School Movement teacher John Saccone. He will be assisted by the a high school student and several guest artists.

John Saccone has been the Movement teacher at Maine Coast Waldorf School for the past 25 years. He has toured with master mime Tony Montanaro and his Celebration Theater Ensemble. He performs with his wife Jackie Reifer (http://reiferandsaccone.com/) and is a guest artist with the Portland Ballet Company. John also teaches circus arts at Cirque-Eze, an overnight camp for teenagers, and at Cirque-Kids, a circus for under-served youth, all at the Spacial Dynamics Institute.
