Sheep Grazing on Campus

We are happy to welcome sheep Winnie and Willa to the the lawn outside of the High School, where they will be spending this school year! They have been on here now for nearly a week, happily grazing on all of the grass on the High School field. The sheep belong to High School science teacher Kelly Welch and her daughter Tess, and are here because of the many interesting learning opportunities they they will offer our students.

Over the course of the year, the sheep will present many opportunities for our students to learn about animal care, the soil and plant benefits of rotational gazing, the benefits of manure, certain biodynamic principles, and the use of fleece, as the sheep are sheared from time to time.

Feel free to contact Lynn Wetterhorn, Chairperson of the Farm, Field and Forest Committee if you have any questions.
