High School Helps Out at Growing To Give

Growing to Give would like to say a huge “thank you” to the Maine Coast high school students and teachers who spent three days last week at Scatter Good Farm in Brunswick helping out in the fields for our grow-for-donation program. Growing to Give is a nonprofit farm project that uses climate-friendly agricultural practices to grow certified organic produce for donation to local people struggling with food insecurity.

The students were amazing troopers as they spent their days in 90+ degree weather weeding, raking, planting, mulching and more – learning that farming goes on in all types of weather! The students worked in groups and spent the whole school day at the farm – while one group worked in the fields, others were having art class under the shade trees and yoga in our recently finished yoga room. We are so grateful for all the work that was accomplished!! Growing to Give runs primarily on volunteer help, so having so many hands helping at one time makes a huge difference. Please check out our website for our 3rd Annual Farmyard Jam Community Music Festival and Farm Day coming up August 14th.

With tremendous gratitude to all the students and teachers and congratulations to the senior class on their graduation!
