We are so fortunate to have Kendra Gaarder, RN, with us, Maine Coast Waldorf’s first full-time school nurse. Although she was raised in Northern Virginia, Kendra’s Maine roots run deep over generations. She has been based in the Portland area for the past four years and feels at home here, nestled between the mountains and the ocean.
Her professional background includes a variety of roles within healthcare as well as other areas of interest. Within nursing, she has worked at both pediatric and mixed Emergency Departments and as a summer camp and outdoor education nurse. Other pursuits have included: forest preschool teacher, community organizer, wedding planner, waitress in Australia and more. She loves a good adventure and learning from new experiences.
In her free time, Kendra spends as much time outdoors as possible year-round. She is passionate about history, reading and creative self-expression.
Chris Kasprak joined Maine Coast Waldorf School staff at the end of August as Marketing Communications Manager. Chris is an award-winning marketing communications professional, journalist and photographer. His marketing experience includes work for both boarding schools and colleges.
Three years ago, Chris and his husband Danny fulfilled their long-term goal of returning to Maine. Chris accepted a job leading digital and social media for his alma mater, Colby College. While Chris enjoyed the experience of returning to his alma mater, his heart lies in working in the connected community that only a mission-driven, independent school like Maine Coast Waldorf can provide.
Chris enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling (someday), and going on Maine adventures. You can also find him at home in Topsham with his cat, Murray.
