Cross Country Continues Strong Season

This past Friday the cross country team traveled to Lake Region High School in Naples for their final “regular” race of the season. The boys were fortunate – while damp and overcast, it didn’t actually rain during their race. That all changed for the girls race, when the skies really let loose and the girls got to enjoy one of the more fun (?) aspects of cross country running – races take place in all weather conditions (barring thunder and lightning) – which this week meant the girls ran in a downpour. The boys team placed first over Lake Region 18-44, with scoring runners John Miles (1), Louis (2), Wes (5), Seamus (7) and Aidan (8). The girls team turned in another stunning performance, earning a perfect score for the second time this season, with all five scoring runners snagging the first five spots – Olivia (1), Maeve (2), Emma (3), Lydia (4) and Leah (5). Team score was MCWS 15, Lake Region 50. On deck for the next race is the WMC Class C race on Wednesday, October 28, which will determine what teams and individuals qualify for states. Runners and families, please remember to check the team blog for more complete practice and race info – mcwsxcrunningteam.blogspot.com/.
