Cross Country Continues Competitive Season

The cross country team continued their competitive season this past week, traveling slightly west for their weekly Western Maine Conference race, this time against the Patriots from Gray-New Gloucester. The boys ran first with Louis Walker landing his first race as the #1 MCWS runner, coming in 2nd. Other scoring runners were John Miles Muentener (3), Wes Teegarden (6), Aidan Stark-Chessa (7) and Conrad Anderson (8) and a team score of 26 to GNG’s 29.

Then it came to the girls race and … watch out! For the first time in MCWS history, the girls scored a perfect race, with MCWS runners taking the top seven spots. These top seven in order were Olivia Reynolds, Maeve Woodruff, Nora Goldberg-Courtney, Emma Haims, Lydia Sharp, Leah Muentener and Mamie Whittier. The team score was a perfect 15 over GNG’s 50. Amazing race girls! With such a large team this year (30 runners!) it’s hard to mention everyone, but the entire team continues to work hard, support each other and turn out solid races each week. Looking ahead to this week, we have a race on Thursday at Cape Elizabeth. Runners and their families are reminded to stay tuned to the team blog for more detailed info – mcwsxcrunningteam.blogspot.com/. Remember that daily practice details for the week are found on the Practice Schedule tab.
