A Simple Halloween in Early Childhood

Jack O’Lantern, Jack O’ Lantern, you are such a funny sight,
sitting up on my window looking out at the night.

This Jack O’Lantern greeted all the children of the Early Childhood as they made their way up to the woodland camp for this sunny and crisp Halloween Day. The beech trees were shedding their leaves making a carpet of gold to lead the way and the smell of the campfire permeated the air, as well as brewed our spice tea.

After a fun forest morning, the two younger classes found their way to the camp and together we gathered around the glowing Jack O’Lantern to hear about the adventures of the Naughty Hobgoblin. Never fear, the big glowing smiling face kept our hobgoblins at bay and the mischief to a minimum. We finished our story by singing the Jack O’Lantern song and each getting a goody bag of freshly popped buttered popcorn, which the children decided was “way better than candy!”

Happy Halloween from the Early Childhood Classes at Maine Coast Waldorf School!
