On Thursday, October 12th, the middle school XC team made its way to Gray-New Gloucester for a meet with the hosts along with Greely, Jordan Small (Raymond), Waynflete, and Saint Dominic’s Academy. We got another beautiful fall day for running and the girls continued their series of strong performances led by Maeve Woodruff, Nora Goldberg-Courtney, Leah Muentener, and Phoebe Veitch all finishing in the top ten and PRs for Leah and Phoebe. Isla Barmby and Emma Haims came in right on their heels and nabbing several spots with strong kicks to the finish. Lydia Sharp earned herself a new PR on this tough course. The dynamic trio of Lila Salter-Gurau, Lauren Willard and Minka Holtrop cruised the course together and landing a significant PR for Minka in the process. The girls ended up with another first place finish on the day.
The boys were not going to be left out of the action, an went out fast to get in position for the wooded entrance. John Miles Muentener and Louis Walker paired up once again followed by Bryan Stark-Chessa and Wes Teegarden, all finishing in the top ten. Caleb Stefanakos had his best performance of the season, earning a PR along the way. Harry Walker and Conrad Anderson, too, had PR days both tearing up the course with style. Christian Lukis, Will Barmby, Robert Rackmales, and Noah Corcoran all ran with passion and just barely missed setting season bests. Another great trio of Nate Barmby, Alec Benton, and Noah Kessler navigated the track together as Alec and Noah both shattered their PRs and Nate narrowly missed one himself. Ben Meza and Wyatt Bruce paced each other beautifully while earning a significant PR for Wyatt. And not about to be outdone was Rylan Siegel, who dug deep that day and crushed his PR to help the boys earn a second place spot just short of Greely.
Not sure what everyone ate that day, but let’s repeat it this Thursday when we close out our season at the CCC Invitational at Twin Brook. This is the grand finale where we face all teams in our conference, and the format is a bit different. The first race is at 3:30 when each school enters one team of seven boys. The second race is at 4:00 with one team of seven girls. The third, and last, race of the day is a combined co-ed race at 4:30 for all remaining runners. Hope to see you there!
