On January 27th & 28th, Maine Coast Waldorf High School musicians Brenna Moore, Finn Dierks-Brown and Thomas McLaughlin attended the District 2 Choral Honors Music Festival at Windham High School. The festival happens annually and is sponsored by the Maine Music Educators Association. The students were selected from hundreds of students who auditioned to be part of this incredible musical event.
Brenna was part of the high school treble choir and worked under the direction of the well known, always energetic composer and conductor, Jim Papoulis. His music is known for combining contemporary, classical and world sounds and has been performed at both the Beijing Olympics and the 2008 Presidential Inauguration! Reflecting on the experience, Brenna (Soprano) shared that “Districts was a very enjoyable experience. Being in a choir with people your age who all shared the same interest and passion for music was really gratifying. The concert was fun and a great way to meet new people; which was hard at first, but eventually a shared love of musicals and spontaneous outbursts of certain well known songs united us as a bunch of kids with a common goal, to make ‘beautiful moments of music,’ to quote my conductor Jim Papoulis.”
