Given the crazy weather of late, it was a happy surprise that the Nordic team had a skate race last Wednesday at Libby Hill in Gray. Conditions were quite soft, but it was great to be out and on a different course. Nick Neveu and Olivia Skillings took first place in their respective races. Tucker Pierce and Eli Gundersen were in the top 10 for boys and Louise Ahearne made it into the top 10 for girls.
On Saturday much of the team headed north to Black Mountain in Rumford for the Sassi classic race, one of the biggest races in the state with close to 300 skiers on the trails. Maine Coast boys had two skiers in the top 30 – Nick Neveu (14) and Eli Gundersen(29) – and placed 6th out of 22 teams. Our girls had three skiers in the top 30 – Louise Ahearne (5), Caitlin Keliher (14) and Fiona Libby (27) – and placed 4th out of 21 teams.

As always, team members and parents should continue to check the team blog on a daily basis for info about practice times, locations and other details as they come up.
