Maine Coast Waldorf High School Nordic News

Under sunny skies and moderate temperatures, the ski team enjoyed  a spectacular day in Fryeburg last Monday for WMC relay and individual races.  The boys placed two skiers in the top 10, while the girls landed three.  Boys relay teams took second and third, and the girls teams came in first and sixth.  It was fun to spend a day in Fryeburg, a beautiful location with top notch trails and grooming.  During the week, the Pineland crew has groomed out what snow is here and the team has happily been on snow all week.

The Maranacook Waves took place on Saturday in Readfield, a new race for our team.  Not everyone participated, but for those who did, it was a fun experience.  This race is noteworthy in that it races skiers by grade and provides results by grade, something different from all our other races.  On the results side, we had Tucker as the fastest senior boy, Olivia as the second fastest junior girl, and our skiers from Morse, Jenny and Makail, each coming in first in their respective grades (sophomore and freshman).  Our other skiers (Nick, Adams, Louise and Caitlin) all finished in the top 10 of their grades as well.  Looking ahead, we have a couple races coming up this week – a WMC race at Libby Hill in Gray on Wednesday and the Sassi Classic race at Black Mountain in Rumford on Saturday.  As always, team members and parents should continue to check the team blog on a daily basis for info about practice times, locations and other details as they come up.  The ski team blog is found at  http://mcwsnordicskiing.blogspot.com/.
