Maine Coast Waldorf High School Nordic

Last week saw the first race of the season for our High School Nordic team, a skate race we co-hosted at Pineland. Race day was quite temperate, making a pleasant start to the race season. The results had two of our boys in the top 10 (Tucker Pierce and Nick Neveu), as well as Makail, a skier from Morse that trains with our team. On the girls side we had three skiers in the top 10 (Olivia Skillings, Louise Ahearne and Fiona Libby), along with Jenny, another skier from Morse who is training with us this year.

On Saturday the team headed up to Telstar in Bethel for the annual fun relay races and crazy tights raffle – always on a cold day, and this year was no different. The good news … In the A Wave, we had relay teams come in second and 14th; in the B Wave we had relay teams come in second and 10th; and in the Individual Race we had skiers come in 11th and 17th. Both relay teams that came in second missed out on first by a mere few seconds, so they were all very exciting races. The bad news … This year nobody from our team won a pair of crazy tights!

On the docket for this week is a race on Wednesday at Pineland, start time 3:30pm, again co-hosted by us. Please come out to cheer on the team! Team members and parents should continue to check the team blog on a daily basis for info about practice times, locations and other details as they come up.
