A Warm Welcome From the Development Office

Welcome all new and returning families!  This fall, beginning as early as next week, you will witness a new main office being built as part of the Community Hall renovation, the construction of a new High School on our adjoining property, and a new Educational Support Center on the back of the Grades 1-4 building.  But that’s not all – trails are already being improved, and plans are underway for Phase 2 projects starting summer 2017 that include better parking, a café/kitchen, music and performing arts classrooms, an athletic field…yes, it will be an exciting and busy year or two.

Please come to the Breaking New Ground Party this Friday, Sept. 16th 6-8 pm, in the Community Hall to learn what’s happening and meet all the people who are making this transformation of our campus possible. RSVPs are greatly appreciated: [email protected]

What is Development Work?  “Development” refers to the work involved with raising non-tuition dollars to support everything we love about Maine Coast Waldorf School. Any time you volunteer at an event, serve on a committee, sponsor an event, or make a charitable gift to the school, you are helping support Development work. Our current families are the backbone of our fundraising successes, however alumni families, foundations, businesses, and the greater community are also very supportive.  Building meaningful relationships with all of these groups is an important part of our work.

Why should you get involved?  This school has benefitted immensely over the past 31 years from a generous and caring community.  Each family’s ability to donate their time or money varies considerably.  Yet our parents (and grandparents, friends, students and alumni) still find time to volunteer, and they also find a way to make charitable donations to the school at a level that reflects their gratitude and their financial ability. What motivates them?  It’s building lifelong friendships, being able to see the impact of their donations, and knowing that they have made a real difference in the lives of the students, faculty or families.

When are the next Development Events happening?

The school calendar includes Development events: mainecoastwaldorf.org/calendar/

Three upcoming ones that include everyone in the school are:

  • Breaking New Ground Party – Saturday Sept. 16, 6 – 8 pm (for anyone 21 and older)
